Life in Kindergarten and the Green Bay Packers

If only Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews, or B.J. Ragi and the other Packer greats (even Brett) knew how they are looked up too by 5 and 6 year olds! Last week, chants of "Go Pack Go!" were heard coming from the cafeteria as the primary and then the upper level kids gave a shout out to the Packers! This week Monday Meeting in the gym ended with the same cries as children filed out of the gym with their Packer coats, hats, scarves, shirts, and sweatshirts showing the pride in THEIR team!
We were a little excited, (OK, a lot excited,) in our kindergarten classroom as each day we sang our good morning song as a different Packer. We all "huddled up" to hear Aaron's call one day and got in Clay Matthews stance another-each day singing in gruff "football player" voices.
"Rise and Shine and welcome to school today...."
For our Predictable Chart this week, emphasizing the words, NOW and ARE, the kids dictated the sentence "Now you are with________." They each picked a different Packer player, each day practicing their sentence, cutting apart the words, and building the sentence back by gluing it to the paper, and finally illustrating their page for our class book. The illustration will be a picture of them and The Packer, complete with number on jersey and appropriate hair and action. I can't wait to see them tomorrow. I will post them tomorrow with some amazing players made by 2nd graders in Art Class. What fun!
