Spraying soon

I talked to Tony this afternoon. He will finish the prep work today and tomorrow and spray tomorrow night. He will finish up Monday and apply primer. Yeah!

All set!

This is a view from the screen porch door looking into the living room. Fireplace is in the center, laundry area to the left, pantry next in the kitchen. Hallway goes off to the left to the bedroom side of the house.
Larry and Linda Phillips had plannned on coming down on Friday. Larry was going to build the front porch with Peter. Mother Nature and Snowstorm Julia (yes, we name snowstorms!) had other plans!

Almost!

Tony worked late last night and when I went over this morning the taping, goobering, and sanding is almost done. The drywall screws need to be covered and then the finishing begins.
As I walked around this morning, I could really feel how the house would be. Oh, this is how big the closets will be? Here is where the bookcase is, the pantry slides in here, this is my view when I'm washing dishes, and, oh this is cozy! This is not a big house (as we wanted), but it is just right!

Dry wall up-taping begins!

Tony and Peter put in some time on Sunday and now are ready to tape the drywall. I took some pictures at noon today. Things are closing in a bit.

Drywall is going up!!

Tony and crew from Marinette arrived at 8:30 this morning, even though Marinette had cancelled school for the day! I wish they would stay with us tonight, so they didn't have to make the long drive each day. I am anxious to see what the house looks like with walls. I have a feeling they started up high so I may not get that feeling tonight. Kiel Building delivered and hauled in all the drywall yesterday, and last night Peter went to get the other needed supplies. I have had a lovely cold, so I haven't been much help, even with clean up!

Let the drywalling begin!

Cary Nate came on Saturday morning and gave the final OK and all is ready for drywalling. Peter is finishing up with the final insulating today. I will do some cleaning up and we will be ready. Peter will order the drywall tomorrow, Monday and Tony will be coming on Tuesday to begin.
Saturday was spent in Marinette looking at tile and carpet-still no final decisions made. I am glad we got the tile for the entryway when we were in Colorado Springs as I have not seen anything I like around here yet. We have not heard about the siding order yet either. I am getting very anxious to see it and the cedar shakes.

Elite Builders returned to tape all the panel joints on February 10th. It also meant closing up the area at the top of the wall where the panels come together using specially cut 2x8's that aid in the structural integrity of the home. Two days of taping and then Tony's Drywall came to put up the vapor barrier getting ready for the drywall. All of the "code" violations have been addressed and with the next inspection we should be ready to go. Changed the plates for the support walls in the basement to treated lumber, added an electrical outlet in the den, and sealed the penetrations in the top plates of the house. Called the inspector today to set up an appointment.

The Inspection

Cary Nate came and did the inspection Tuesday night. We only had 5 concerns that we needed to take care of. The wood plates in the basement on the floor in the utility room and between the bedroom and bathroom had to be treated lumber. Peter fixed those yesterday and today. That was the biggest job. I also asked him how "done" the house had to be so we could get an occupancy permit. Most of his concerns are safety. We were glad to hear that we could paint, put flooring and ceiling in after we move in! We are ready for Brandon and his crew to come and finish up with the sealing so we can put plastic on the walls and ceiling and insulate between the basement and the house. We then will be ready to drywall. Yeah!!

I had to do some convincing, but I am glad that Ray decided to put the tankless water heater in our home!

Electrical work with foam insulation

Ray and Brian's Handy Work

Plumbing for the shower

Things are happening

Dean Sixel and crew are at the house today finishing up the wiring. I went over the lighting fixtures with him at lunch and got the final estimates today. We are expecting Ray's Plumbing tomorrow and the inspector tomorrow night. He will look over the heating, plumbing, and electric work, and if all is well, we can start the drywalling this week!
