32122

After looking at the Family Home Plans website and not finding the front image for plan 32122 I e-mailed them to find out if they had the picture. Here it is.

Final piece as Packer Football game ends in a victory!

These are the ceiling boards for the screen porch. Should you ever decide to finish your own wood, think again! We could not use the pre-finished material because it was only for indoor use-as we used inside. Peter had to apply Cabot's natural clear finish to both sides as it was going to experience Wisconsin moisture.

And the Packers won too!

Beautiful day for doing the last of the varnishing

At least no one is trying to shoot me!

The Deer

Arrived at about 4:30 to be sure I got my spot as usual. Set up my blind and watched all the other hunters arrive. Lights in the woods which I thought were only yards away but were a long way off. Opening day-6:45 am. Thought I heard a noise comming from down the hill on the new trail that they have begun to use in the last couple of years. turned to face the right direction and the buck appeared out of the mist only 15 yards away. I put the scope on his neck and thought about it, then remembered last years miss and moved it just behind his shoulder and shot. He just disappeared noise nothing and I thought I was dreaming. Got up and walked down the hill a bit and there he was. I'd hit him high and severed his spine so he was dead on the spot. It had to be cut up right away because it was 64 degrees yesterday and 60's today! One day of hunting this weekend because the varnishing had to be done on such a beautiful day! I was really shocked when I heard Peter walk in the door at 7:15 this morning! WOW! The fireplace and the porch ceiling both won out over HUNTING!

Fireplace Now

The joints will be light gray when it dries. Now, I can put the rug and furniture back in place. We got the stone from Buechel Stone Corporation and were able to pick it up right at the Quarry outside of New Holstein-native stone.

"Buechel Stone operates quarries located on over 700 acres of land in east central Wisconsin and produces over 100 types of natural stone products."

Fireplace update

Peter is finishing the fireplace today. Opening day for deer season is tomorrow-great motivation! I went home at lunch and he was finishing up the part under the mantle. All that was left was the part under the hearthstone on the front. We will see what won-the fireplace or the urge to get up to Marinette for deer hunting. It looks wonderful! He has done a great job!

Notice the hearth on the bottom left-it is not covered in this picture

This is how it looks before it gets cleaned up

How it looked when I went to bed.

The work went on until 2:00 a.m.-mostly cleaning up and fixing the edges.

It looks really great!

How about this one here?

Figuring color, size, and shape is tedious

The work goes on

At work on the stone

Much preparation before the stone could go on!
Bracing the floor in the crawlspace, mesh on, taping and covering everything.

The posts are in place with plenty of room for the Christmas Tree. Notice the fashia and soffits are completed.

Trim boards painted and ready to go

Mother Trucker

Mom had to drive the truck to Shawano to pick up trim and the maple for the fireplace mantle. This is not her favorite activity. Dad was home painting and varnishing the porch ceiling boards. One more coat on the face to go.

What's going on?

When I left this morning Peter was painting the trim in the living room-touch ups from the putty and nail holes. The screen porch has the green soffit and fashia done. We have had nice sunny weather so working outside has progressed. We picked up the knotty pine ceiling for the porch this week and found out that we have to waterproof both sides and could not use the material that was already finished like indoors. That will be some extra work.

Screen porch addition.

The screen porch is 13x12. It is constructed with rough sawn cedar posts and 2x6 materials. It took half a day to frame and a half a day to shingle. Fascia and soffet (?) are progressing. We need to go to Schmidt Lumber in Shawano for the knotty pine ceiling. Screens to be put in next spring. Green smart siding trim to go on the outside.

It's bigger than we thought-good!

One morning of work, thanks Larry and Jim

Updates!

There is no more trim cluttering up the living room. Peter is very close to being done with all the trim, filling holes, painting, and chalking. The cement board is on the fireplace awaiting the stone that is being cut.
Larry and his worker are coming bright and early in the morning to begin work on the screen porch-yeah. We are beginning the process of changing our loan from a construction loan to a mortgage. Things are almost done!
And, Andy is constructing the railing for the new stairway. We have the wood and noseboard (?),( that rounded wood for the front of the steps) all set for the final steps.
