Kindergarten Packer Love!
I announced the starting line-up for the Green Bay Packers as the kindergartners ran up to get their paper and their baggie with their cut apart sentence. 'And now, number 12, the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, AAAAAAAron Rodgeeeeeeeers!" The kids came running up jumped into the air and gave me a high 5! By the time I handed out the last paper and supplies the whole room was cheering and jumping around-what fun! And then they had to get to work on their sentence building and illustrations. Here are a few!

Life in Kindergarten and the Green Bay Packers
If only Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews, or B.J. Ragi and the other Packer greats (even Brett) knew how they are looked up too by 5 and 6 year olds! Last week, chants of "Go Pack Go!" were heard coming from the cafeteria as the primary and then the upper level kids gave a shout out to the Packers! This week Monday Meeting in the gym ended with the same cries as children filed out of the gym with their Packer coats, hats, scarves, shirts, and sweatshirts showing the pride in THEIR team!
We were a little excited, (OK, a lot excited,) in our kindergarten classroom as each day we sang our good morning song as a different Packer. We all "huddled up" to hear Aaron's call one day and got in Clay Matthews stance another-each day singing in gruff "football player" voices.
"Rise and Shine and welcome to school today...."
For our Predictable Chart this week, emphasizing the words, NOW and ARE, the kids dictated the sentence "Now you are with________." They each picked a different Packer player, each day practicing their sentence, cutting apart the words, and building the sentence back by gluing it to the paper, and finally illustrating their page for our class book. The illustration will be a picture of them and The Packer, complete with number on jersey and appropriate hair and action. I can't wait to see them tomorrow. I will post them tomorrow with some amazing players made by 2nd graders in Art Class. What fun!

Peter using his new roof shovel!
Because the original plan was changed to make space for the interior basement stairs the roof has some really tight valleys. I began to put heating wire in the valleys last fall to try and prevent the ice dams and glacial build up we had a year ago but I wasn't satisfied and took it out. (note: do not have coiled wire plugged in while installing to keep hands warm! I thought it was a good idea but the coating melted from the wire.) The snow rake is a great alternative. It removes unwanted snow at a much lower cost and provides a bit of exercise with some fresh air . Heating coils about $200. Snow rake $50.
How to Make Pizza Dough
Susan's Cooking School has the video of how to make this pizza dough. She asks that you not publish her recipe, although you can visit her site and click on recipes, then Pizza Dough. The video is especially helpful.

I made it on Saturday after grocery shopping for the special King Arthur Bread Flour. The dough really stretches. It made 3 good sized pizzas. We ate ham, Italian sausage, pineapple, and red onion pizzas. The ham from New Years is now gone. It takes a while to make the dough but is worth the time. We were too hungry to take pictures. --Haley

Amazing Pizza!
After Dad studied the Internet for two hours this morning, discovering the best dough and methods for forming the dough, we had one of the best pizzas ever! Great crust and cudighi sausauge with fresh mushrooms, black olives, tomatoes, and oregano. Sat by the fire with a Corona and the movie "Eat, Pray, Love". Hmmm, a nice Friday night.
