Ice Road Trucker

What me worry? Heading out onto Lake Winnebago to check out the 2011 Sturgeon Season. Since we don't have a working television sometimes we just have to find out for ourselves. No Mrs R. today she didn't really want to drive out on the ice anyway' I drove about three miles out to where the action was and south along the east shore from Calumetville to a little south of Pipe. NFOI

Intelake 80

How much to get a wrecker out here when the truck goes in? Not worried too much since there are all kinds of vehicles farther out and the weather has been below zero for the last couple weeks. Probably want to pull your shack early in the week as we are headed for a real thaw with temps up into the high 30's all next week the possibility of rain.

Four Lane!

Some one had some real ambition plowing the many roads out on the lake. Nice thing is that the only thing you have to worry about hitting while plowing is open water. Well I guess that isn't a real goood option either.

On the road to Shanty Town

Fishing shacks in the distance. I guess that they are all out deep? I've never felt the need to harvest a sturgeon they are just too ugly to have in a confined space with me. What do you do with 200lb of sturgeon meat?

Shanty town

About two miles out there were hundreds of shanties and vehicles but very few visible people. Sometimes three or four vehicles around one shanty. Must have been really cozy inside?

The new sign!

World Champions-Green Bay Packers!

We jumped into the car at 10:05 and drove to Green Bay to see the all green and gold fireworks. We arrived just as they were beginning and as they were finishing with the grand finale I could hear the crowd roaring! We drove downtown as far as we could, parked the car, and walked over to Washington Street and joined a huge of crowd of Packer Fans cheering, with banners, high fiving, hugging strangers, and shouting "Go, Pack, Go!" One guy asked me if I had "Put on the belt", and then showed me how-so I did-as in Aaron Rodgers Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Belt! They were selling the "World Champ" newspapers on the street and Dicks was open and selling Super Bowl stuff!
