December 13 I hope for a snow day! 2 hour delay only!

Remember when we would only make sugar cookies and ginger cookies if we had a snow day! I am hoping for a blowing snow, minus 25 below wind chill day tomorrow. We drove past the school and the parking lot has not been plowed yet!! It looks like a snow ocean about 4 feet high with drifts even higher! The plow has gone by shooting snow up on both sides covering the entrance with 4 or 5 feet of snow chunks! Snow day! Snow day!

December 12 Oh no! We have seccumbed to the times!

We are getting hit with the blizzard-looking out front door.

It is still snowing and blowing as of 8:30 a.m. We are going out in it for awhile, just to experience it! Off to Quick Trip down the middle of the road! Maybe 14-16 inches-can't see out the windows.

11:00 We have most of it snow blowed and shoveled! The cars are dug out, mine moved. The truck is cleaned off, but not moved. It is still blowing and snowing and getting colder by the minute-below zero by tomorrow morning. We are in for coffee and cocoa. Did anyone else get snow?

This is a picture Dad took Tuesday of Elkart Lake. The buildings are owned by Indiana University. It is a summer camp and retreat center, very cool!

My mother left on December 1 for her home in Iowa

Mother flew into Milwaukee on November 20th Opening Day of Deer Gun Season in Wisconsin. She helped with Thanksgiving, got to visit with and go shopping with Jana, ate Thanksgiving with Haley and Bill as well. She spent some time with my kindergartners as they worked on their laptops, and helped me tie their Christmas hats.

Tied fleece hats for my kindergartners

Mother helped tie the hats this year, so they are done in November!! Our school theme this year was "learning, a journey of a lifetime", thus the hats. All 70 kindergartners will have one at Christmas!

We went to Abler Glass to watch the artists

We stood in the glass blowing building and watched him craft a beautiful bowl. It was about 100 plus in there, as the oven was 220. Mother stood two feet from the oven, and FINALLY got warm!!

Thanksgiving at our house!

A quiet Saturday morning

Several have come and gone, and now the house with Mother and me is pretty quiet. The last load of bedding is in the wash and we have eaten leftovers nicely. Jana and Peter left yesterday at 8:30 for Alabama. Peter just called to say they were on their way to breakfast at the "Tiny Diny" a little place near Jana's work. Haley and Bill traveled back to Marquette, Michigan yesterday as well. Peter and Jana are on the way to the airport and Peter will arrive in Milwaukee around 5:30 and then home. Mother and I are off to Abler Glass for their open house. Several artists are demonstrating their skills including glass blowing.

Jana came to hunt and celebrate her Golden Birthday on the 28th! She was born November 28, l982 and will be 28 for those of you who like to play with numbers. I will tell you the rest of the story later!

Headed South

Peter is headed home after several months working in Marinette at the site of the new Tyco Groundwater Remediation Plant. Next stop New Holstein for a few days work then on to Mobile to get Jana and the dogs. The weather has finally changed with a hint of winter in the air. A lot of blaze orange being seen here in the U.P. as Michigan's deer season starts Monday.
